Process. Filament Winding

Built from scratch. Each frame starts as dry carbon tow that is molded, wound, and shaped into form. The main tubes of each frame are produced on a purpose-built 3-axis CNC filament winder, programmed to place carbon tow at precise angles along a mandrel. Filament winding allows the diameter, shape, and layer orientation to be tuned to individual riders and frame designs. When used in conjunction with 3D printed mandrels and thermoplastic compaction, we can produce custom tube profiles with trapped or multi-part cores. Take a look at one of our unpainted frames and you’ll see the oriented fibers along the length of each tube.
