Galibier Tribute. 2025

A one-off carbon tribute to the iconic Paris Galibier. Originally designed in 1947 by Harry Rensch, the frame was unique for its split seat tube, oversized down tube, twin top tube, and bi-laminate construction. The motivations behind the original design are debatable, but the result was a classic frame—one I wanted to explore in carbon.

Combining internal lugs with tube-to-tube construction, the main sections are filament wound, while the seatstays and toptube(s) are molded from unidirectional carbon and braided sleeve. Details include an integrated seatpost and topper, compression-molded 160mm/UDH dropouts, and a seat tube lug with just enough clearance to confound the more practically minded. Cork accents and a simple gloss clear finish the frame. With no decals or graphics, the only branding is the subtly embossed logo on the No. 6 Composites fork.

The build includes: Mavic Allroad SL wheels w/ Vittoria tires, a Campagnolo Ekar groupset, Cane Creek’s Hellbender 70 headset and GXC stem, Easton EC70 SL handlebars, and a carbon railed Brooks C13 saddle.
